On-the-Spot Mobile Filmmaking Competition


Rules and Regulations:
  1. There is no entry fee for the participation.
  2. Only individual student entries will be allowed. The competition is open to media students of schools/colleges/universities in India.
  3. The theme of the competition shall be announced during the Opening Ceremony of the First Frame 2013 on Day 1: 2nd April 2013 at 11 AM.
  4. Registration forms are available at the Registration Desk of the Reception. Registration Forms shall be issued on production of original college ID card by the student and submission of a photocopy of the same.
  5. Films must be accompanied with the filled-in registration forms for acceptance in the festival.
  6. Entries once submitted cannot be withdrawn.
  7. Submit your film to the registration desk in a CD/DVD/direct transfer from mobile phone latest by 5 PM on the same day i.e. 2nd April 2013.
  8. MBICEM reserves the right to accept or reject any entry without assigning any reason.
  9. Your submission will be a part of the First Frame library.
  10. Clips from your entry may be used for Festival promotional purposes.
  11. If it is discovered at any time (before, during or after the event) that any student has made an attempt to win this award by getting the film made by professionals or non-students and subsequently send the entries in the name of student of any institute, then the student and the institute will be blacklisted and debarred from participating in subsequent awards/events for all the times to come and such names will be listed on the website of First Frame. The said student or institution may also be liable for legal proceedings for deliberate misrepresentation of facts and cheating.


Common Guidelines for Films:
  1. Your film must be shot only on a mobile phone with at least 5 MP camera and can be up to 2 minutes long.
  2. Time allotted for shooting, editing and submission of the film is 5 hours approx. (12 Noon to 5 PM on 2nd April 2013)
  3. Minimal or no editing in the films is expected. Only in-camera editing should be preferred. If students wish to include background music or do minimal editing, they must carry their own laptops with the preferred editing software. MBICEM or First Frame will not provide any equipments for the purpose.
  4. Use of music - If you use a piece of music and/or sound recording which is not your own, do mention the source and/or credit the owner. If you are restrained by the publisher and/or record company to use it, don’t use it. This includes background music also.
  5. Clear all rights - By submitting your video for this competition, you are certifying that it's your own original work and that anyone who appears in it or whose work you have used in it are fully credited and have agreed to being filmed in the first place. This includes but is not limited to brands, artwork, stills, video, and music. However, it is your responsibility to identify and clear all copyright and/or other intellectual property rights which belong to a third party.
  6. Keep it clean - MBICEM reserves the right to reject any material that is considered defamatory, obscene, blasphemous or unlawful.


Awards and Declaration of Results:
  1. All the films received in the competition shall be screened by a preview committee and shortlisted films shall be screened on 3rd April at 10 AM at the festival and will be reviewed by the jury members.
  2. The results shall be declared and the winners shall be awarded at the Valedictory Function on 3rd April at 5.30 PM.
  3. The prizes for the competition include:
  • First Prize- Rs. 5,000/-
  • Second Prize- Rs. 3,000/-
  • Third Prize- Rs. 2,000/-
